Colvard Building
The Colvard Building houses the Departments of Communication Studies, Criminal Justice & Criminology, and Psychology
The Colvard Building was named for Dr. D.W. Colvard, first chancellor of UNC Charlotte, who served from April 1966 through December 1978. The Colvard Building, winner of a design award for its architect Harry Wolf, contains the Psychology Department, the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology, the Department of Communication Studies, the University Center for Academic Excellence (UCAE), and the University Advising Center.
The University Advising Center provides advising for transitional and undeclared students, and the Office of Student Success and Retention provides support for students on academic probation. Colvard Building is also home to the Urban Institute and Extended Academic Programs, including Distance Education and Summer School, Women + Girls Research Alliance, and Chancellors Emeriti.
